How LACAA began...

In May 1989 Cathy Nicolay, Activity Coordinator from Pines Lodge and Parkvale Lodge in the Piper Creek Foundation wrote a letter inviting Activity Coordinators to join her for a day of Program Sharing. The first meeting took place on Monday, September 18th 1989 at the Great West Inn in Red Deer. The itinerary included “A Get to Know You” session, brainstorming to find new ways to deal with problems, activity idea sharing and activity demonstrations.

On the tenth anniversary Cathy was invited back as a special guest to see what her letter had produced in the end. Cathy was quite pleased.
